A city with a legendary bridge, the famous Pont d'Avignon and its well-known song - here’s a snippet:

Sur le pont d'Avignon
L'on y danse, l'on y danse
Sur le pont d'Avignon
L'on y danse tous en rond
Les beaux messieurs font comm' çà
Et puis encore comm' çà

Capital of Christianity in the Middle Ages, Avignon is 20km from our house and is a beautiful touristic and cultural city, that has kept its beautiful ramparts, its historic centre, with the magnificent Palais des Papes from the 14th century, the Pont Saint-Bénézet from the 12th century and the famous Pont d'Avignon known throughout the world, thanks to its song sung by children everywhere.

The city of Avignon is classified as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Let’s not forget the Festival d'Avignon!

Created in 1947 by Jean Vilar, the Festival d’Avignon is one of the oldest and most famous theatre festivals in the world. Originally devoted exclusively to classical theatre, the Festival d’Avignon has since expanded not just into contemporary theatre but also dance, musical theatre, puppet shows and all forms of live art in general. Every year, for the month of July, Avignon becomes a city of theatre!
